Okay, today was Fonnie first day at SAR
training and she did better than some of our old
timers. I can not believe how well she did. I
wanted her first find to be me. So, I had a
friend of mine hold her while I ran. Fonnie doesn't
care for anyone else to handle her except for
me. She spun around biting her leash it was a
big show! My friend is a very experienced
handler or I would not have let her do this. I
ran just a little ways then hit the ground and,
of course, Fonnie found me, after all I was in
plain sight, but the game was on and she liked
it. My friend held her again and off I went
further this time, again Fonnie was spinning
wanting out of her hands. My friend said "lets
find her" and, of course, they found me again.
This time she was really getting into the
"game". The third time I made her sit and told
her to calm and she listened. As I walked away
I had to turn only twice and tell her to calm
and she did. I walked further away and really
got out of sight, something I would have done
with a much more experienced dog, not a newbie.
My Friend said that Fonnie was much more calmer
now knowing the game and was ready for it.
Waited for the word "go find" and even hesitated
until my friend stepped forward. She had
been pulling very fast to get to me my
friend had to wear gloves. This time she was
slower and she had to use her nose to find me.
She is more of a trailing dog, works with
nose down and goes from side to side, followed
my trail exactly! My friend said it was
beautiful!
I was miffed cause I wanted to see it, so my
friend said let me go hide, lets see if she
will find me. My friend went, not far, not
too far out of sight. Fonnie found her but
hesitate to go in. I persuaded her to go
in and get food, she got the food and
thought, hey, this is great!!! My Friend
went off again, this time out of site. I
know when this dog is on a trail and it is
beautiful. I can't believe how good she was
on her first day. She knew what "go find"
was after the second time! I am so excited
about what Fonnie is going to be able to do
and can't wait until either her first search
or our first training exercise. She is an
amazing dog! I will start sooner than
expected on scent work, I think she is
advanced enough to know what she is looking
for. I can not thank you enough!

Fonni and I will be attending our first Official
SAR Exercise March 25 - 29th.
Fonni and I have finished with the obedience
part of our training, the trainer said he
couldn't teach us any more than we already
know. So now we are starting her on only SAR
training. Which she does very well. We both
look forward to Saturday mornings. She had her
first sniff at 'cadaver' on Saturday and she
likes it. That was exciting as well. She
picked it out every time. She is such a
wonderful dog, she even has my other dog acting
like a dog. Maggie now barks at people when
they come around. It is fantastic! The two of
them have become really good friends.
I am looking forward to
taking Fonni to our SAR exercise, the trainer
thinks she should be ready for it. I'll send
more pictures of her doing her thing when I can
get my hubby to take some pictures of us. To be
continued. :) Cindy.

We went to training today. My son laid the
first track. We let it age for only 15 min.
The track went over a black top road and Ms.
Fonni didn't didn't miss a beat. She was on
that track like it was a rabbit she was after!
I really have to hold her back and let her pull
me to the victim. She just wants to get to them
FAAASSST! She is the neatest little dog
I have ever had the pleasure to work with.

Hi, I still have to send you pictures but I just had to write and tell you thank you. I could have never imagined I could have found such an incredible dog via the web. Bella is so smart, so easy, so quick to learn, no accidents inside, loves everyone, etc. (the list is long).
She doesn't leave my side which makes for a tired dog--kitchen, laundry, garden-- I don't stop either.
Anyway, maybe all your dogs are this way so this is nothing new---but I think
she may be the best dog I've ever had--and I had great ones. Thank you for sending my soul mate (oops, besides my husband)!

I evaluated a lovely litter of GSD
puppies last week. The breeder whom some of you may have met at Dog Park this fall. You may have also met Zuni, the father of this litter. The person who was supposed to get this puppy had to opt out for medical reasons, so she is now available to the right home. The puppy is now 8 1/2 weeks old.
Zsa Zsa is one of the stars of this litter. She's out of excellent German show-dog lines - beautiful, good conformation, feisty, high-drive, high-energy, quick to learn, and very social and loving with folks. She needs to go to a working home where she will be trained and shown in AKC competition obedience or Schutzhund, preferably to someone who has experience with training and maybe even with this breed (which, as you know, is also my breed).
She has done terrific with this litter - Early Neurological Stimulation and lots of socialization. The puppies have spent their first 8 weeks with Gina's adult dogs (the 2 GSD parents, 2 Dutch Shepherds, a Border Collie, a Chihuahua, and a terrier). They have interacted with people, have gone to the vet several times, have gone on car rides a few times. I expect this little girl to grow up to be an exceptional dog, given the genetics and the early puppy raising.

I'm a professional dog trainer and behavior consultant. I have had the pleasure of evaluating several of
her litters, in order to help her decide how to make the best possible matches between puppy and new owner. I'm very impressed with her skills and knowledge as a breeder. The litters I evaluated were all just lovely, including some pups that would be perfect for their intended working homes and others that would make wonderful family pets for other owners.
I've also had the pleasure of following several of her puppies as they grew up. They are beautiful, intelligent, healthy, and have lovely, stable temperaments - everything you'd expect and want in a well-bred German Shepherd.
She devotes herself entirely to each litter she helps bring into the world. She does all the right things in their first few weeks of life, before they go to their new homes, including Early Neurological Stimulation (recommended by Dr. Carmen Battaglia)
and lots of careful socialization. The puppies spend
their first 8 weeks with the adult dogs (German Shepherds as well as others including Dutch Shepherds, a rescue Border Collie, a rescue Chihuahua, and a rescue terrier). They interact with people of all kinds, go to the vet's office several times, and go on car rides.
I've recommended her to several
people, and they've all been very satisfied. They
also appreciate that she does her best to stay in touch with them and be available for any questions as the pups grow up.

Hi, Life has been so busy. So let's just talk Caio. Love him more everyday!!! He's just awesome. extremely handsome!!! He's doing agility and Rally. No titles though, hard to get the time. He is great with other dogs! Very social. You can certainly use us for anything you want. Gotta run again!!! Lisa
Just looked at your new site. GREAT JOB!!! I have got to send some pic's of the boy. I also would like to tell you again Thank you so much for this awesome boy. You gave us everything, and more than we could have hoped for Ciao and Axel are great together. They are constantly on the move. Ciao is either playing with Axel or us. I love the look in his eyes "let's play, or let's do agility, Let's just do something Mom!!! He also gets more handsome everyday. We can't walk him without being stopped and asked about him. I think he was the easiest dog I have ever had to train. There is just such a high level of intelligence. I'm so pleased with his social skills. He really is great with other dogs and that makes it so much more enjoyable to go places. I feel like I'm talking his language because he gets it so easy. Like I said, Ciao is everything and more than we could have hoped for. He grows deeper & deeper into our hearts everyday. Lisa

June 10th, 2003 pup 7 1/2 months

When I tell people that
jena took off 2 months of work to help raise the litter of 10 pups, their jaws drop... The puppies were well-socialized. She also helped with the post-adoption socializations. It is fun to watch the parents and siblings reunite. At 7.5 weeks the litter was professionally evaluated. So we got just the kind of puppy we wanted- friendly to people, cats, and dogs, fearless, confident, and a natural at agility.
most of the puppy tricks before her first class at 11 weeks old, she learns very quickly. My friend's mother, who is normally afraid of dogs, changed her mind after observing Zina when we quickly dropped by the house in the morning, and specifically asked us to bring the puppy to a cookout that evening!! The only health problem we have had so far is a mild case of juvenile demodex. (her hips and elbows were pre-limmed and look excellent too)

3/24/06 Forgot to tell you that Zina and I passed the Delta Society Pet Therapy test. Not with flying colors becuz I was so nervous I was practically hyperventilating so she thought she was in mortal danger, but she was still a sweet thing anyway. I took her to Vet last week to do her vet part of it, and a friend of the Vet took your name down becuz he was so impressed by Zina

From the moment we met
jena we knew we would get our puppy from her. We had researched buying a German Shepherd for about a year. Some of the reasons we chose to buy a puppy from
her were that she was dedicated to their health and
happiness. She did not only exercise her dogs but she trained them as well unlike some other breeders we met with.
Her dogs are also apart of her family environment, which is what we wanted I didn't want to purchase from a place that kept their dogs in kennels all day.
She also stayed home with the
new mom and pups after they were born dedicating
herself to them for the next few months. We were
also kept involved by receiving pictures of the new
puppies and once they got big enough we were allowed
to visit on a regular basis. She had all the puppies puppy tested and choose for us a puppy that would suite our life style and the type of drive we were looking for. Odin (Zamb) is now eight months, strong, extremely intelligent, and handsome (I'm biased). He is a joy and exactly what we wanted. I would recommend
Kerschberger GSDs with out a second thought she has been helpful and informative a great dog breeder and a constant source of information for us as well as a friend. Nathan and Elizabeth in CT.
Odin was re-homed to become a working k9 in Kansas due to his incredible working drives at age FOUR! gk

He is not just gorgeous, but also smart and has a zest for life. His owners have turned him in the perfect dog by super socialization, teaching him to swim & traveling with him.

Although
these pictures do not even come close to how
beautiful Iso is, I wanted to at least send these
and I will get others later.
I want you
to know a little about this guy's personality. He
is so gentle and kind. I have never seen him get
irritated or angry nor put anyone in their place.
He just has the greatest temperament, absolutely no
reason ever to fear this guy!
He is so
loving...he loves to be hugged and lays his head on
your chest if he needs a hug. He cocks his head
while you are talking to him and pays strict
attention and then goes off to do whatever he wants
to do!
However,
if he has something he should not have, you just
need to tell him to leave it, and he does. He loves
to chew...just bones and toys, but he can go through
a calf bone in a day or so. He is quite the chewer
so there always has to be something for him.
When I am
working in my office and he needs to go out, he will
come sit by my chair and just look at me until I ask
him if he needs to go out. Then he jumps around
like a wild man, just so happy this human finally
had the smarts to figure out what he was trying to
tell her.
He is as
smart as he can be...sometimes I believe he plays
dumb just so he does not have to do what I want him
to do right away, but his goal is to please so he
just resists for a few seconds.
I can go
on and on and when I send other pictures, I will
tell you more. I just wanted you to know how
grateful I am to you for breeding such wonderful
dogs. I know your pups can be used in all types of
services, yet I am so happy that they can also be
just a sweet, loving, smart family member.
I still
recall often when Iso was your shadow, anticipating
ever step you were going to take next, even without
looking at you....just so aware of you.
Thank you
so much. Jazz and I are so happy Iso is here
and completes our family, but there is always room
for more.l
Love,
