This litter's breeding has taking place the week of the 19th through the
2st
of July. There is no telling how many Long Coats vs
Stock Coats there will be this time. Both Eiko and Muna carry the
long coated gene
(Allele) But commonly its some of both. In Stock Coat to Stock Coat breeding both Sire and Dam have to carry
ONE long coated gene and ONE Stock Coated gene, and nature decides whether they
will pass it on as it needs two genes to produce a Long Coat . In
addition, it takes about three to four weeks after whelping to ID which ones the long
coats are, so I ask everyone to be patient ;)
The
approximate time the V litter pups can go to their new homes is the last week of
November

The whelping area is always
set up fresh for each litter, a cleaned tile floor to begin with, then two
heating pads, and a new carton box on top to hold the heat to start with .
The new carpet goes on top of it

On top of this go a couple of blankets so
she can happily dig away when she needs to. The rug helps a lot too
for the females NEED to scratch and dig

then the
large water proof sheets used for bed wetting to keep it easily changeable and
clean and dry during whelping.

are also great herding dogs, just ask the long horns of Taos County!)
